Kitten thrown from car in Detroit saved by bystander; $2K reward offered for information on abuser

Driver tossed 2 kittens out of moving vehicle

DETROIT – There is a positive update to the sad story involving animal cruelty in Detroit.

Someone threw two kittens out of the window of an SUV at a gas station on 7 Mile Road and Grand River Avenue.

One of the kittens died. But the other kitten has received care from Michigan Humane.

This is all thanks to a woman named Yolibeth Delfin, who was pumping gas and heard the kitten’s cries from behind an ice cooler.

“He was crying, so I saw him, and I grabbed some food and threw him some food,” said Delfin. “He came to me, little by little.”

Delfin took the kitten to the home of a friend who cares for cats. They fed and washed the animal and then took him to Michigan Humane.

She and her partner want to adopt the kitten they named “Diesel” in reference to the gas station where it was found.

But first, Michigan Humane needs to finish the investigation.
