DETROIT – The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency’s (UIA) office in Detroit is scheduled to temporarily close next week.
The closure is expected to begin on Monday, April 28, 2025, for renovations to create a “welcoming, secure, and efficient” experience for residents who visit the office, according to a release from the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity.
Renovations will include an updated public area and security updates. They are expected to be completed in fall 2025.
The office is at Cadillac Place at 3024 W. Grand Boulevard, in the city’s New Center neighborhood, and while closed, a temporary office will be set up in the same building, across the lobby, according to the release.
Appointments are required for in-person service at UIA offices. Anyone with an appointment scheduled at the Detroit office will be texted a reminder with the address of the temporary office.
Residents can make an appointment at the temporary office on the agency’s website up to 14 days in advance.
According to the release, the renovations are part of the UIA’s goal to improve the customer experience. The Grand Rapids, Lansing, Saginaw, and Sterling Heights locations have also had renovations done recently.
