During afternoon testimony, jurors are shown the dash camera video from the initial traffic stop for the first time.
The jury was also shown photos taken of Schurr after the fight, highlighting his injuries.
A crime scene technician with the Grand Rapids Police Department, Jessica Beaudry, testified to photos she took of Schurr.
“He did indicate to me that his right wrist felt sore and when I examined it, it looked a little swollen,” Beaudry said.
The jury left the courtroom while the attorneys discussed whether Lyoya’s criminal history was relevant to the case.
The defense asked the judge to allow them to discuss Lyoya’s criminal history, which includes third-offense operating while intoxicated and domestic violence.
“We feel the door had been opened by the prosecution,‘’ defense attorney Matthew Borgula said to the judge.
Prosecutor Chris Becker objected, saying Schurr was unaware of Lyoya’s criminal history on the day of the traffic sotp and shooting.
The judge, Christina Mims, does not believe the door has been opened to introduce the criminal history.
