Candlelight balloon release is scheduled to be held at 7:45 p.m., where police discovered her body

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – A family’s quest to find their missing daughter ended tragically over the weekend when police located her body.

According to the family, April 5 is the last time anyone saw London Thomas, 17, while being dropped off at her boyfriend’s house in Inkster.

Twenty-one days later, authorities found the Detroit teenager in a Southfield neighborhood.

After weeks of searching, significant leads developed over the weekend. Detroit police and the FBI enlisted the help of Michigan State Police on Saturday, leading to Thomas’s recovery.

On Sunday, Michigan State Police announced it had two suspects in custody, believed to be involved in her disappearance.

According to the Michigan State Police, no charges have been filed yet.

A resident of Inkster, Terry Pardon, expressed her sorrow about the situation and remembered how she used to be friends with the Detroit teen in her neighborhood.

“She’s just a beautiful girl – it’s just so heartbreaking,” Pardon said. “I thought they were going to find her alive.”

Search parties led to Westland, where the teenager’s phone last pinged.

Over the weekend, two major developments shifted the case, leading authorities to Southfield.

Authorities have searched the boyfriend’s home in Inkster at least twice. The investigation is described as “fluid.”

Once the investigation concludes, it will be handed over to the Wayne County Prosecutor for review.

On Monday (April 28), loved ones plan to hold a 7:45 p.m. candlelight balloon release in the Southfield neighborhood where police discovered Thomas’ body.
