Officials said on Oct. 10, 2021, at approximately 4:30 p.m., McDonald, who was a stranger to the victim, lured the child into his vehicle, where he attempted to sexually assault her.
Police said he then drove her to a house in Detroit. McDonald told the victim to remove her clothing, and when she refused, he strangled her.
Officials said McDonald then tortured and raped her. The victim was able to escape after he fell asleep.
Shortly after escaping the house wearing only a blanket, the victim was found by a resident who contacted authorities.
Multiple law enforcement agencies collaborated on Oct. 15, 2021, to identify and arrest the defendant without incident.
McDonald will remain at the Oakland County Jail until sentencing, scheduled for May 2, 2025, at 10 a.m.
