Bond increased for Northville man accused of sexual assault, kidnapping

Suspect has $1M+ collective bond

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. – A 22-year-old man from Northville accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl had his bond raised in a different sexual abuse case out of Macomb County.

He currently has a collective bond of $1,250,000 across two counties.

According to authorities, Charles Laurence Willis began a relationship with a 15-year-old girl in 2023 under the guise that he was 16 years old. He reportedly had intercourse with the victim several times before it was discovered he was actually 21 years old.

Willis was charged in January with two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person under 15. His bond was set at $5,000.

Since then, Willis was arrested by police in Northville Township for reportedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl over two days. In response, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office raised the bond on Willis to $250,000 on Monday, May 5.

Willis was remanded into custody with Wayne County authorities to answer to the new charges out of Wayne County. His bond in Wayne County was set at $1 million.

Willis’ next court date for the Wayne County case is May 9. A pre-trial conference for the Macomb County case is scheduled for May 22.
