‘Whose house?’: AEW superstar Swerve Strickland returns to Detroit with message of inspiration

DETROIT – All Elite Wrestling returns to Detroit for a pair of shows at the Masonic Temple.

One of the stars set to hit the ring on Wednesday (May 7) is Swerve Strickland, who spent the day giving back to those in Metro Detroit.

It’s a very exciting time for wrestling fans, so while the show prepares to take off this upcoming Wednesday, Swerve hopes to inspire them.

When he’s not winning heavyweight championships, professional wrestler Strickland just so happens to be passionate about music.

“My favorite rapper, one of the guys that inspired me coming up, was Big Sean. He’s from Detroit. Detroit’s always been an inspiration to me. Eminem has always been an inspiration to me, music-wise,” said Strickland.

Ahead of his appearance at AEW Dynamite, Strickland uses that same passion for music to help motivate those at D-Man Music Therapy Studio in Berkeley with a close, intimate conversation.

“It’s rightfully fitting. Especially if there’s anything I can do to help give back or help inspire in the music realm, outside of wrestling, you know,” Strickland said.

“It’s powerful to have someone who’s been doing what he does to show our people that they can do anything,” said DMan Foundation Executive Director Bobby Efros.

Aside from inspiring in the recording booth, you could catch Strickland on the street, inspiring others with his friend Terrance Burney, holding a sign that simply says “I see greatness in you.”

“Somebody needs to hear it. Yeah, we’re talking to you, lady. We see you. We see greatness in you. See that. That makes people smile. We see you. We love you,” said Burney.

“The spirit of Detroit is always dope to me,” Strickland said.

You can see Strickland fighting at AEW Dynamite on May 7 at the Masonic Temple at 7:30.
