5 arrested in Metro Detroit in nationwide child sex abuse crackdown

FBI-led effort nets 12 arrests in Michigan

DETROIT – A nationwide crackdown on child sex abuse resulted in the arrest of 205 people -- including five in Metro Detroit.

According to authorities, Operation Restore Justice resulted in the rescue of 115 children across the country over five days.

12 Michiganders have been arrested in the FBI-led enforcement effort, including five in Metro Detroit.

  • Adarius Carr, 36, of Belleville, allegedly communicated with a convicted sex offender over the internet, where they discussed they reportedly shared child pornography with each other. Carr was charged in a criminal complaint with distribution, receipt and possession of child pornography. 
  • Aroul Kaliamurthy, 53, of Westland, allegedly traveled to North Carolina, where he took hidden camera videos of a naked prepubescent child. Kaliamurthy was charged in a criminal complaint with transportation, possession and access with intent to view child pornography. 
  • Scott Rocky, 57, of Centerline, allegedly shared more than 4,100 files of child pornography over peer-to-peer software on the internet. Rocky was charged in a criminal complaint with receipt, distribution and possession of child pornography. 
  • Amor Pedro Martinez, 26, of Ecorse, allegedly engaged in sexually explicit conversations on a messaging application with other individuals and received child pornography on this application from another user. Martinez was charged in a criminal complaint with receipt, distribution, and possession of child pornography. 
  • Whitney Williams, 38, allegedly advertised, rented hotel rooms and transported a minor to engage in nonconsensual sex work. Williams was charged in a criminal complaint with sex trafficking of a minor.
