Since 1993, the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) has hosted a nationwide food drive on the second Saturday in May.

On May 10, 2025, letter carriers will collect non-perishable food donations while delivering mail along their routes, using the postal network’s incredible reach to put food on the table.

It’s one of the toughest days of the year for these dedicated carriers, and their extra work helps stock Metro Detroit food pantries, making summer food assistance programs possible for countless families in need.

Gleaners will partner with post office branches across Southeastern Michigan to support their community.

Since 2010, Gleaners and their neighboring agencies have received over 14.3 million pounds of food through these efforts, providing essential meals to neighbors in need.

Please leave your non-perishable food donation in a bag near your mailbox on Saturday, May 10, and your letter carrier will take care of the rest.
