Infant dies following 2-car crash in Bloomfield Township

Police said the collision involved a black Jeep Grand Cherokee and a white Honda Accord

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – An infant has died following a two-car crash in Bloomfield Township.

The crash occurred on Friday (May 10) at 1:30 p.m. near 2187 S. Telegraph Road in front of the IHOP restaurant.

Police said the collision involved a black Jeep Grand Cherokee and a white Honda Accord.

Officials said the Accord was traveling east from a median turn-around when the northbound Grand Cherokee broadsided it.

Witnesses reported the Grand Cherokee ran the red traffic signal at the median crossing.

Police said three people occupied the Accord, including a passenger who was 23 weeks pregnant.

Officials said the passenger was extricated from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital.

Police said the passenger sustained serious injuries and underwent an emergency delivery at approximately 4 p.m.

Tragically, the infant passed away the following day, May 11, 2025. A child passenger in the Accord was properly secured in a car seat and sustained minor injuries.

Officials said both drivers suffered injuries and were transported to Metro Detroit hospitals for treatment.

The South Oakland County Crash Investigation Team (SOCCIT) responded to the scene and assisted with the investigation.
