Southfield woman takes plea deal in death of 3-year-old girl

Prosecutors: Woman poured scalding water on child, then hit her head against bathtub

DETROIT – A former babysitter took a plea deal in the death of a child just two weeks before the start of her trial.

Iesha Harris pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of 3-year-old Harmoni Henderson.

Prosecutors said Harris poured scalding water on the girl and hit her head against a bathtub in March 2024. Harris’ felony murder and child abuse charges were dropped as part of the plea deal.

Her sentencing is set for May 29, 2025, and she could face up to life in prison.
