OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A former contract substitute teacher at Spring Mills Elementary in Oakland County’s Huron Valley School District has been convicted of sexual assault.
Timothy Allen Daugherty was charged in August 2024 with a series of sexual assaults alleged to have occurred in Highland Township, where he was contracted as a substitute teacher for Huron Valley Public Schools and Spring Mills Elementary School.

Daughtery was found guilty Tuesday, May 13, of six counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard said the victims were all young girls, about 10 years old.
“You’ve got a situation where you’ve got young kids and a position of authority of a teacher above them who utilizes that authority and that position to do terrible things,” Bouchard said. “It’s the definition of a predator.”
According to court documents, Daugherty was immediately suspended from work when the first reports were made to law enforcement in April 2024.
Parents are planning a lawsuit against the Huron Valley School District, which they believe brushed off the allegations when they were first brought up in April.
One parent said the district ignored them at “every turn” and made them feel like the claims weren’t important.
