Charges dropped against stepson in Dee Warner murder case as focus remains on husband

Stepson was originally charged with tampering

LENAWEE COUNTY, Mich. – Per officials, Jaron Warner, Dee Warner’s stepson, has had his charges dropped against him.

Jaron was originally charged with tampering with evidence and being an accessory to murder earlier this year.

His father, Dale Warner, is accused of killing Dee and putting her remains in a chemical storage tank.

Dee, 52, was reported missing on April 25, 2021. She told her friend she was going to meet Dale, but she was never seen or heard from again.

Her remains were found on Aug. 18, 2024, in Lenawee County and were positively identified three days later.

Dee’s brother, Gregg Hardy, said he had asked authorities to look in the tanks.

He believed Dale might have hidden her body inside. The property where Dee’s body was found belonged to Dale, but it wasn’t where she lived before her disappearance.

Dale owns several pieces of property in Lenawee County, and the one where his wife was found is about four miles from where she lived on Mugner Road in Tipton.

That explains why it took so long for the police to search this particular property, even though Dale had already been charged with open murder and tampering with evidence.

Officials conducted several searches over the past three years, many likely taking place at properties owned by Dale.

Local 4 doesn’t know the charges were dropped, but now it means Dale will be the only one facing trial, which is set to start in September.

This is a breaking news story, and updates will be posted as they become available.
