Emma has been assisting her community for the past year and by a half in this newly created position. She is here to aid residents with anything from road issues to food and housing concerns. From there, she will direct them towards additional resources or take the necessary steps to bring the problem to the township’s attention.
One of Emma’s recent reports put her in contact with Wayne County about a damaged guardrail. After taking a call from a resident about the guard rail and the debris surrounding it, Emma followed up and located the problem. Upon her inspection of the guardrail, she reported the issue to Wayne County through their reporting system SeeClickFix.com, which is open to everyone to report any needed road maintenance. She submitted the images of the damaged area, and waited for a follow-up on when they would be able to fix it.
Her job not only includes reporting the issues, but following up to ensure that the complaint is addressed correctly and resolved. An example of this was last year when Canton’s trash service changed. Emma received many calls from confused residents, and she was glad to explain and answer any questions they may have about the transition.
Emma wishes more residents knew about her position and that she is there to help. She describes the love she has for her job and the positive impact the residents bring to her day.
“They are always surprising me, making me laugh. Sometimes they make me cry,” Emma said. “It’s a really good thing getting to work with the public and people. They bring a lot of joy to things, even when they’re reaching out to complain. I still leave every day feeling really positive.”
Emma can be found in the administration building, which is open Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. She can also be reached on the phone or by email. You can find her contact information here.
