Communities across Metro Detroit are hosting Memorial Day ceremonies and parades to honor those who sacrificed their lives for our country.
Here’s a look at some of the events happening in the Metro Detroit area on Memorial Day:

Oakland County
Birmingham
The city will hold a Memorial Day service on May 26 at 10 a.m. in Shain Park. The service will include a speaker, a wreath laying at the monuments and live music.
Novi
Novi’s annual Memorial Day parade will begin at 10 a.m. on May 26. The parade will begin at Meadowbrook Commons on Meadowbrook Road and end at the Novi Civic Center on 10 Mile Road.
Ferndale
Ferndale’s 107th annual Memorial Day parade will kick off at 10 a.m. at Livernois and Oakridge and conclude at Ferndale Memorial Mall on Livernois. A Memorial Day Ceremony will immediately follow.
Rochester
A Memorial Day service will begin at 8 a.m. on May 26 at Mt. Avon Cemetery. A parade will immediately follow.
Troy
Troy is hosting a Memorial Day ceremony to honor Michigan’s own Polar Bears at White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery at 11 a.m. on May 26.
The 94th annual ceremony honors the first U.S. soldier who fought in Russia 106 years ago.
Macomb County
Sterling Heights
A ceremony will begin on May 26 at 9 a.m. in the courtyard between city hall, located at 40555 Utica Road, and the police department.
The city’s 46th annual parade will kick off at 10 a.m. at Dodge Park. It will feature a 104-year-old World War II veteran and Sterling Heights resident, Jack Jones, as the grand marshal. A flyover over Tuskegee Airmen WWII aircraft will begin at 9 a.m., followed by a performance by the 1st Michigan Colonial Fife & Drum Corps.
Eastpointe
The City of Eastpointe will host a Memorial Day parade at 11 a.m. on May 26. It will kick off at Stephens from the Military Museum and end at Spindler Park.
Wayne County
Dearborn
The city’s 99th annual Memorial Day Parade will return to its original route in East Dearborn beginning at 9:30 a.m. with a military funeral procession at the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Schaefer Road.
The parade will end at the Veterans Memorial Park at the Henry Ford Centennial Library for the formal ceremony.
Plymouth
Plymouth’s annual Memorial Day Parade kicks off at 9 a.m. on May 26 at Wing Street along Main Street. It will end at Veterans Memorial Park with a ceremony.
Northville
The Northville Memorial Day Parade will take place on May 26 at 10 a.m. and will kick off near the intersection of Griswold Street and E Main Street.
A ceremony will follow the parade at Rural Hill Cemetery.
