ALLEN PARK, Mich. – An active scene is unfolding at a Marathon gas station where police from Allen Park, Lincoln Park, Southgate, and Michigan State Police are negotiating with a man who is held up inside with a knife.
The incident occurred on Friday (May 30) at 4:30 p.m. when witnesses said the man allegedly entered the gas station holding the knife while running from the police.
He has reportedly been inside the gas station for at least an hour.
The suspect allowed the employees to leave, and he is currently alone inside the gas station.

The SWAT team is on-site, working to negotiate his exit. Reports indicate that he is allegedly demanding to speak with his mother.
As of now, there has been no word on whether he has been taken into custody.
Traffic along Southfield Road between Allen Road and Fox Avenue is shut down as authorities manage the situation.
Many onlookers are gathered, trying to make sense of what is happening.
For now, the focus remains on the man inside the Marathon gas station.
