DETROIT – Metro Detroit is expected to see possible storms on the hottest day of the week.
As an approaching cold front clashes with rising temperatures on Wednesday, increasing clouds will fill the sky throughout the morning, with highs soaring into the upper 80s by the afternoon.

Showers and storms are anticipated to develop in the afternoon, with some potentially strong to severe. The primary threat includes damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph, and large hail cannot be ruled out.
The window for storms is mainly from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., with the most likely time for severe weather occurring between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Winds and hail are the largest threats expected from these storms.
Following this Wednesday, temperatures will fall into the seasonal mid to upper 70s to round out the week. Some lingering rain is possible early Thursday, while additional showers and storms may occur on Friday.
