DETROIT – Someone across the river in Canada might have thought they were having fun by pointing a laser at a Detroit police helicopter, but the person who did it could be in serious trouble.
The Detroit Police Department confirms their air support unit was hit with the laser beams several times Monday (June 2) night.
They reported it to Canadian authorities.
Aiming a beam at any aircraft is a felony at both the federal and state levels.
It’s extremely dangerous because even a small pinpoint of light can become blinding when it hits the windshield of an aircraft.
