DETROIT – This is shaping up to be the hottest day of the week and the heat and humidity will clash with an approaching cold front. Increasing clouds through the morning, although widespread haze is filtering out the sunshine first. Highs soar into the upper 80s by the afternoon.
Showers and storms will develop in the afternoon and some could be strong to severe with damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph the primary threat, but we can’t rule out large hail and isolated flooding.
The window for storms is mainly from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., with lingering rain expected into Thursday morning.
Tomorrow
There will be some lingering showers early on Thursday. Otherwise. drying out from north to south with cooler temperatures behind the front. Highs will be around 70.
Friday
Seasonal mid to upper 70s on Friday with lingering shower potential in our southern communities, but most of this should dry out by mid-afternoon, giving us a drier evening.
Weekend
A seasonal Saturday and Sunday are ahead. As of right now, a mix of sun and clouds will be on tap with highs in the upper 70s.
