DETROIT – A stretch of I-96 in Detroit was closed Sunday night as police investigated a potential shooting.
It may have happened Sunday, June 15, just after 9 p.m.

According to authorities, police received a 911 call from a 32-year-old woman from Inkster who said she believed she was shot at on the freeway. She reportedly said she was driving westbound on I-96 with her three children when a white Jeep pulled up next to her. A passenger in the Jeep allegedly reached across the driver and began firing a gun at her vehicle out the driver’s side window.
The Jeep exited at Greenfield Road.
When troopers arrived, they reportedly found no signs of damage to her vehicle and no reported injuries. Police said the woman was not able to describe the driver or passenger of the Jeep.
Troopers closed the freeway for several hours to investigate and search for evidence.
The investigation is ongoing.
