When they were in the parking lot of the gas station, they saw a running vehicle that had “heavy front-end crash damage.”

The troopers went over to check out the vehicle and found a man asleep in the driver’s seat.

After waking up the driver, police say they saw multiple signs that indicated the man was intoxicated. He also allegedly made “incoherent statements about his circumstances.”

The driver failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody for impaired driving, according to police.

Troopers also found a loaded Glock 17 pistol in the center console of the car.

The driver was lodged at the Oakland County Jail. The case pends a prosecutor’s review.
