Gang leader sentenced for role in Jackson fentanyl crisis

A man from Texas will spend almost 20 years behind bars for distributing fentanyl in southern Michigan.

According to authorities, Tamarious “Poogi” Faulkner is the leader of the “Thorough Bread Family,” a violent gang that operates out of Jackson. Faulkner reportedly distributed large amounts of a unique fentanyl across Jackson. The fentanyl, rather than a powder, was in a crystalline form and was often colored yellow, purple or green.

Oakland County residents raise health, environmental concerns over 422-acre gravel mine plan

A proposed 422-acre gravel mine isn’t sitting well with the residents of Oakland County, who decided to protest outside a board meeting on Tuesday night.

“Everyone is against this. The entire community is against this,” said a resident who simply wants to be known as Jenna.

Here’s what’s different with downtown Ferndale’s parking system, payment options

People may notice small changes to downtown Ferndale’s parking system and payment options.

There’s still the option to use the Park Ferndale app, but there are parking zones instead of spaces.

The city said it wanted to make the process easier, so it’s switching from more than 1,000 parking spaces to 20 parking zones.

Heatwave hits hard at The Jefferson apartments, where tenants say mismanagement is to blame

emperatures were in the mid-90s once again on Tuesday, and as the entire area has been baking in this brutal heatwave, imagine living in an apartment building without air conditioning.

Unfortunately, that has been the reality for the last five days for residents at The Jefferson apartments on Detroit’s east side.

“I’ve heard some people say that their apartment is as high as 95 to 100 degrees,” a three-year resident of the building told Local 4 on Tuesday (June 24).

Weather: When to expect thunderstorms in Metro Detroit this week

Finally a reprieve from the extreme heat, but we remain warm and muggy. Cloud cover helps drop high temperatures into the low to mid-80s today with possible upper 70s in the Thumb.

There remains a chance of thunderstorms today across much of Southeast Michigan with the best chance of stronger storms south of I-94. Timewise, storms develop around the same time as yesterday, 2PM-6PM. However, isolated showers and non-severe storms could linger through the evening.
