Detroit-based gun smuggling plot unravels after suspect mistakes police for getaway driver

A gun smuggling operation from the U.S. to Canada was exposed when a suspect reportedly mistook an unmarked police car for his getaway vehicle, dropped his backpack and ran.

Canadian law enforcement officers located the backpack and recovered 36 firearms, each individually wrapped in tube socks.

Grosse Pointe man sentenced for torture, kidnapping in violent dollar store robbery

A Grosse Pointe man will spend decades behind bars for an armed robbery and assault that happened in November 2020 in Detroit.

According to authorities, Antonio Lee Cotton entered a dollar store in Detroit, just south of Warren, on Nov. 30, 2020, produced a handgun, robbed and sexually assaulted two employees and fled from the scene.
