TROY, Mich. – The man accused of shooting and injuring his coworker at a Troy Corewell hospital parking garage was bound over for circuit court Tuesday.
Update: Troy hospital shooting victim details troubled relationship with suspect
The shooting happened just after 7 a.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2025, in the parking garage of Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital. The shooting was called in as an active shooter situation and a warning was sent to staff telling them to “run, hide, fight.”
The hospital went into lockdown.
Robert Paljusevic, 21, allegedly fired five shots at his coworker, striking him twice in the arm.
The victim, identified as a 25-year-old Troy man, was treated for his injuries at the hospital. Paljusevic was arrested at a home in Macomb County shortly after the shooting occurred.
Here’s everything you need to know to get caught up on the case:
Hospital workers falling out
Police said Paljusevic and the victim were “best friends” who worked in the radiology department together but then had a recent falling out.
The shooting victim told police that he met Paljusevic while working afternoons at the hospital about a year before the shooting.
“They became friends and hung out after their shifts often,” a detective said at Paljusevic’s arraignment. “The victim described the defendant as Jekyl and Hyde, and that sometimes he would be easygoing but other times he would overreact.”
The family told police that there had been some sort of “falling out,” but they believed that their differences had been set aside because the 25-year-old went to a birthday party in January.
Family funeral
When the 25-year-old’s father died, there was a private viewing for family only, and Palsujevic wasn’t invited, investigators said.
Palsujevic was upset that he wasn’t invited, so when he went to the public viewing, he made offensive comments to the father’s body, according to the victim’s mother.
“Your ------- son would not invite me to meet you,” Palsujevic said in reference to the private viewing, according to the mother.
The detective said there was a FaceTime call between Palsujevic and the 25-year-old after the funeral.
During that call, Palsujevic urinated on funeral brochures and said, “If I do see you outside in public, don’t be surprised if something happens,” according to the detective.
Paljusevic’s demeanor
Paljusevic’s family told investigators that he had a “short fuse” and “would often argue with people.”
The detective said the 25-year-old was Paljusevic’s “only non-Albanian friend and made it clear that his people were not to be f----- with.”
“The victim stated that there was typically a cloud hanging over the defendant and there was always a fear of what he might do and described the defendant as a bully,” the detective said.
The victim’s mother told police that Palsujevic was “highly possessive” of her son.
Coworkers said Palsujevic is “very patriotic for Albania,” “argumentative,” “energetic,” and “amped up.”
