Anita’s Kitchen in Lake Orion has closed its doors.

Restaurant officials announced the closure on social media on Sunday, July 13, the same day it closed.

Owners said, “An opportunity has presented itself,” which led to them closing the restaurant abruptly.

Zipper merging: Michigan officials urging drivers to embrace technique in construction zones

Michigan transportation officials and state police are urging drivers to embrace the zipper merge technique as summer construction season coincides with peak travel periods.

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and Michigan State Police emphasize that proper zipper merging - where drivers use both lanes until the merge point and then alternate into the open lane - can help prevent traffic backups in construction zones.

“If we needed you back further, we would have moved the arrow back further,” says MDOT spokesperson Diane Cross, addressing the common misconception that early merging is more courteous.

Sean Stockman said it all started when he drove past an abandoned preschool and couldn’t ignore the mess. He stopped. Cleaned it up. But he didn’t stop there.

Now, he’s known all over Detroit — and YouTube — as ‘Midlife Stockman.’

Once a video editor and later working a 9-to-5 corporate job, 43-year-old Sean Stockman hit a turning point two years ago. What some might call a midlife crisis, Stockman turned into purpose. Now, we like to call him Detroit’s Mr. Clean.

“I’ve been called plenty of things,” he laughed.

Michigan AG Nessel sues brothers for allegedly creating fake LLCs to extort Ferndale businesses

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has filed a lawsuit against two men accused of creating fake companies to harass and intimidate small business owners in Ferndale in an attempt to extort money from them.

The suit was announced on July 9 but filed by the state on June 12 in Wayne County Circuit Court.

It claims that brothers Eric and Daniel Vander Ley formed 17 fraudulent LLCs using the exact names of well-known Ferndale businesses.

Weather: Air Quality Alert continues in Southeast Michigan; Here’s when storms could return

It’s shaping up to be a Toasty Tuesday. Today will likely be the warmest day of the week as highs top out around 90, but humidity still stays on the lower side under hazy skies. The wildfire smoke from Central Canada lingers across Michigan which extended the Air Quality Alert for Southeast Michigan through tonight.
