A man is facing charges after he allegedly led police on a chase through Monroe County and into Wayne County after fleeing a traffic stop, officials said.
Just before 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025, a deputy tried to pull over a U-Haul box truck for a traffic violation at W. Front and Cass streets in Monroe.

The driver allegedly fled the traffic stop, and a pursuit was initiated, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
The chase went into Frenchtown Township, and the suspect evaded stop sticks on Nadeau Road before getting on I-75.
During the pursuit, the driver started throwing items out of the truck’s window, according to the sheriff’s office. Additional information about these items has not been released.
The chase continued into Wayne County at speeds reaching 75 mph.
The suspect exited I-75 at Exit 40, Dix Highway in Lincoln Park, and then continued traveling north.
At this point, Monroe County deputies terminated the chase.
A short time after that, the suspect was traveling north on Toledo-Dix Road when they crashed into another car.
None of the people inside the car that was hit were injured, according to authorities.
The suspect then ran away from the truck and into a residential neighborhood.
A deputy who was in the area responded and quickly found the suspect in someone’s backyard in the 2500 block of Emily Street in Melvindale.
The suspect, identified as a 23-year-old man from Maybee, was taken into custody without further incident.
He is facing multiple charges, including fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing, operating under the influence of drugs, violation of the Controlled Substance Act and more.
The suspect’s identity is being withheld until he is arraigned.
The investigation is ongoing.
