SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. – How would you respond if you were told you had to evacuate your home in just 10 minutes due to an emergency?
Local 4 teamed up with a family in Shelby Township to test their preparedness -- and they have no idea what we’re going to ask them to do.
All they knew was that we’d installed cameras in their home, and we were going to ask them to do something live on TV.
They found out the details of the assignment while all of you watched live, and we’ll see how they handle it.
Then, an expert from the Southeast Michigan Chapter of the American Red Cross helped us evaluate their response.
Did they grab the right things before they got out?
How did they prioritize? And, most importantly, what should you do if there’s a real emergency?
We had no idea what’s going to happen, but we did know it’s important to be prepared for emergencies like this, just in case.
