The Interim City Manager is now Aamir Ahsan, who is the Controller/Chief Financial Officer for the city.
In the meeting video, Council Mayor Pro Tem Mohamed Hassan can be heard asking to add a resolution to the agenda to terminate the city manager. Mayor Adam Alharbi objected, saying doing so would violate the city charter.
The disagreement continued as the mayor and Hassan argued over authority to run the meeting and the city’s charter. At one point, the mayor threatened to have police escort Hassan out of the meeting.
Two hours later, the council took a vote to terminate the city manager with a 4 to 2 majority.
Al-Adlani was hired in late February, meaning he had been on the job only a few months.
It was not immediately clear from the meeting video what specific reasons were cited for ending his employment.
Local 4 has reached out to the City of Hamtramck for more information.
The termination comes less than a year after major leadership shakeups at Hamtramck City Hall. In August 2025, the Hamtramck City Council voted to terminate City Manager Max Garbarino, Police Chief Jamiel Altaheri, and Officer David Adamczyk.
