OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A man was arrested Sunday night after police said he was found sleeping in his car in the middle of I-75 in Oakland County, as well as allegedly having alcohol and knives in his car.
Michigan State Police responded to the area of I-75 near Clintonville Road in Oakland County on Aug. 9 just before 9 p.m. for reports of a car blocking lanes on the freeway.
When troopers arrived, they found the driver, a 44-year-old Flint man, asleep behind the wheel. When they woke him up, police said they saw open containers of alcohol on the passenger seat. After searching the Flint man’s car, troopers found two knives, 9 and 12 inches long.
According to police, the Flint man appeared intoxicated, and preliminary testing determined he was twice over the legal limit.
The man was taken to the Oakland County Jail on two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, two counts of felon in possession of a dangerous weapon, open intoxicants, operating without insurance, and operating while intoxicated.
Police said he was previously convicted of operating while intoxicated.
