Man killed by officers in Lansing after reports of armed person banging on doors

LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State Police are investigating the death of a man who was killed by officers in Lansing early Wednesday morning.

According to the Lansing Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 600 block of E. Jolly Road around 4:20 a.m. after receiving 911 calls about an armed man who was banging on doors and windows in the area.

Police say the man was shot by an officer “at some point” after police arrived at the scene, but gave no additional details about the circumstances leading up to the shooting. No police officers or residents were injured during the altercation, officials said.

The investigation was turned over to Michigan State Police for review, as per department policy, and police say additional details will be shared as they become available.
