Early morning truck fire, diesel spill slows traffic on WB I-96 at Livernois

DETROIT – An early morning crash and subsequent diesel spill involving a truck on westbound I-96 at Livernois Avenue in Detroit caused significant backups Friday morning.

The crash was first reported just before 4 a.m., with aerial footage from Sky 4 appearing to show cleanup efforts after a truck reportedly caught fire, spilling diesel into the roadway.

It’s not yet clear whether any injuries have been reported or what precipitated the crash, however cleanup crews remained at the scene for several hours with only the far left lane open to traffic.

The crash has since been cleared and the roadway is back open.
