Madison Heights police officer injured in crash

MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. – A police officer was taken to the hospital for medical treatment after a crash Tuesday morning in Madison Heights. 

Police said the officer was on the way to a run at about 5:30 a.m. in the area of Dartmouth Street and University Avenue when another SUV pulled out in front of the officer's vehicle causing the crash.

According to police, the SUV ran through a stop sign.

The officer was taken to St. John Hospital. He was treated and released.

The intersection was closed while police investigate. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
