DETROIT – The national average price for a gallon of gas is now nearly $4, according to the AAA.
Michigan’s average price for a gallon of gas has dropped slightly below that and is sitting at $4.004 as of Tuesday morning, according to the AAA.

“Michigan motorists continue to see lower prices at the pump, with some areas seeing prices below $4 a gallon,” said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA-The Auto Club Group. “If gas demand remains low and stocks continue to rise alongside falling crude prices, drivers will likely continue to see pump prices decrease.”

On June 11, 2022, Michigan’s average price for a gallon of gasoline was $5.223. Metro Detroit’s average reached $5.293. That is the highest recorded average price in Michigan’s history. Diesel topped out at $5.960 a gallon on June, 22, 2022.
