Michigan Lottery players racked up millions in winnings in 2023, while playing a variety of lottery games.
In 2023, the biggest Michigan Lottery prize claimed was a $8.76 million Lotto 47 jackpot, won in August. The lucky 60-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, matched the winning Lotto 47 numbers on Aug. 19: 07-16-18-27-39-40. He bought his winning ticket at Paris Spirits & Wine, located at 2871 East Paris Southeast in Kentwood. He chose to receive his winnings as a one-time lump sum payment of about $6 million rather than annuity payments for the full amount.

Next up, two different $6 million prizes from players playing the $300,000,000 Diamond Riches scratch off game. One of those was bought in Whitmore Lake. The 69-year-old Genesee County woman chose to receive her prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $4.1 million, rather than 30 annuity payments for the full amount. The other winning ticket was bought at a gas station in Lapeer.
A couple of other big Lotto 47 jackpot were won in April, worth $4.38 million, and another in October, worth $3.4 million. The $4.38 million ticket was sold at Lathrup Village Convenience on Southfield Road in Lathrup Village. The other winning ticket was bought online.

A West Michigan player claimed a $4 million prize from a scratch off game in September, the ticket was sold in Grand Rapids. “When I scratched the ticket and saw I’d won $4 million, the first thing I did was call my brother. He told me to make sure it wasn’t one of those prank lottery tickets, so I flipped it over and read through the fine print on the back. Once I confirmed it indeed was not a prank, I called the Lottery to have them confirm the prize as well.” He chose to receive his prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $2.7 million, rather than 30 annuity payments for the full amount.
