SUTTONS BAY, Mich. – A Northern Michigan community is hosting its annual Yeti-themed festival this weekend.
The Yeti, a creature that may or may not exist and is purported to reside in the Himalayan mountain range, is also known as the Abominable Snowman. While I’d rather see a festival about the Michigan dogman, I suppose a Yeti-themed festival is more seasonable.
“The Best Yeti Fest This Side of the Himalayas” will take place in Suttons Bay, Michigan, on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. The annual festival is hosted by the Suttons Bay Chamber of Commerce.
The headquarters for the event, known as Yeti Central, will be located at the VI Grill event space adjacent to the bar. That’s where attendees can pick up maps, merchandise, and day-of tickets. There will be live music at Yeti Central. An award ceremony will also be held at Yeti Central at 5 p.m.
The following events are scheduled during the festival:
- Yeti Exploration and activities for children: At the Suttons Bay-Bingham District Library 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- Sledding: Behind the Suttons Bay-Bingham District Library 12 p.m. – 2 p.m.
- Hot Dogs: Provided by the Suttons Bay Bingham Fire Department in front of Northern Latitudes 12 p.m. – 2 p.m.
