Starting Saturday, voters can cast their ballots early in person for Michigan’s Aug. 6. primary election.
Early in-person voting is available starting Saturday, July 27, 2024, and lasting until Aug. 4, 2024.
Registered voters can visit their early voting location and cast their ballot. Voters who are not yet registered to vote can visit their city or township clerk’s office to both register and vote.
The first time that Michigan allowed early in-person voting for a statewide election was for the 2024 presidential primary election on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024. Early in-person voting is now allowed for all statewide and national elections in Michigan.

The Primary Election takes place on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024. Polling locations on Election Day will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Who can vote early in person?
Any registered voter in Michigan can vote early in person at an early voting site for statewide and federal elections.
Where can I vote early?
At least one early voting site must be available to all voters in every city and township.

Do I need an ID to vote early?
No. Voters should bring photo identification when they vote, but it is not required. If you forget to bring a photo ID, you can still vote you will just need to sign an Affidavit stating that you are not in possession of picture identification.
Can I still register to vote?
Yes. In Michigan, you can register to vote and vote in person up until and even on Election Day at your city or township clerk’s office. Online and mail registration is not allowed within 14 days of an election.
You have to be in your city or township clerk’s office by 8 p.m. on Election Day in order to register and vote in the Aug. 6, 2024, election.
To be eligible to register to vote you must be:
- A Michigan resident (at the time you register) and a resident of your city or township for at least 30 days (when you vote)
- A United States citizen
- At least 18 years of age (when you vote)
- Not currently serving a sentence in jail or prison
You will need to bring proof of where you live when you register to vote. Documents must have your name and current address. You can show the clerk a digital copy of your documents. Acceptable documents include:
- Michigan driver’s license or state ID
- Current utility bill
- Bank statement
- Paycheck or government check
- Other government document
