CHARLEVOIX COUNTY, Mich. – A body found on the shore of Beaver Island in Lake Michigan has been identified as a woman reported missing earlier this month.
Kristen Terrian was last seen at 5:30 a.m. on Aug. 2, 2024, on Michibay Beach near the Manistique Township Park, according to Michigan State Police.
On Aug. 9, 2024, an unidentified body was discovered in Lake Michigan on the western shore of Beaver Island. On Aug. 12, a postmortem examination was completed. On Aug. 15, investigators used dental records to confirm that it is the body of Kristen Terrian.
As of Thursday, an autopsy had not yet been completed.
“This is not the outcome any of us wanted,” MSP Public Information Officer Mike Shaw said. “We offer our condolences to Kristen’s family and our community.”
