Student under investigation for reputed criminal sexual conduct at Walled Lake Western High School

Walled Lake school officials failed to call police, victim's mother says

WALLED LAKE, Mich. – A 17-year-old female student in graphic details described to Local 4 how a male student in one of her classes demanded that she perform a sexual act while the two were alone in a computer lab this past week at Walled Lake Western High School.

"I'm like, 'No, leave me alone, just leave me alone,'" she said.

The incident happened at about 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Part of it was captured on school surveillance.

The teen said she watched the video with school administrators and it shows "that he flipped me off in the hallway and followed me into the class."

Her mother said she did not get a call from the school until 4 hours later and she did not find out what happened until she got to the school.

She had to call the Oakland County Sheriff's Office to get a criminal investigation. That's why she called Local 4.

"They didn't even call the police. And the police department said they should have been called especially since he put his hand on her," the mother said.

The Sheriff's Office confirmed that the mother brought them the case.

They will take a statement from the male student and turn the findings over to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office.

Officials at Walled Lake Consolidated Schools said they are cooperating with the Sheriff's investigation.

"Although we are unable to reach the building administrators involved to verify, if this was the case, (Oakland County Sheriff was notified by the parent), we sincerely apologize," a WLCS spokeswoman told Local 4. "Walled Lake Schools takes these allegations seriously and our administrators take action and report these incidents."

The school district is closed this week for spring break.
