DETROIT – A Michigan landmark will appear on U.S. quarters next year.
A design of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, a Michigan historic site on the shore of Lake Superior, will appear on U.S. quarters in 2018.

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore has been selected for one of the designs for the 2018 America the Beautiful Quarter Program. Though the quarter will not be available until February 2018, the design was unveiled today at the American Numismatic Association’s World’s Fair of Money Trade Show in Denver, Colorado. It depicts Chapel Rock and the white pine that grows atop it.
In 2010, the United States Mint began issuing 56 quarter-dollar coins featuring designs depicting national parks and other national sites as part of the United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. Pictured Rocks NL is #41. In all, there will be 56 quarters in the series, released between 2010 and 2021.
Other 2018 quarter designs include Voyageurs National Park in Minnesota, Cumberland Island National Seashore in Georgia and Block Island National Wildlife Refuge in Rhode Island.
