DETROIT – A woman has been arrested after a 1-year-old boy was stabbed to death in Southwest Detroit, police said.
The 31-year-old woman is believed to be the child's mother, police said. She is in temporary serious condition at a hospital after she tried to kill herself, police said.
The woman called 911 and said she was going to kill herself and that there were dead people in her apartment, police said. When officers arrived, they found her in the hallway with serious injuries. She told them there was a dead child in her apartment.
The incident happened in the 3600 block of West Vernor Highway near West Grand Boulevard, police said.
Officers are trying to figure out what led to the deadly violence.
