Nikki Haley is headed to Michigan Sunday to campaign following a loss in her home state of South Carolina.
Haley confirmed she was still coming to Michigan in an address to voters on Saturday night. Haley’s remarks came after the South Carolina Republican primary race was called for her opponent former President Donald Trump.
Haley has yet to win a 2024 primary election and political experts say Michigan won’t change that.
“There’s not been a lot of primary polling in Michigan, the most recent one was about three weeks ago, but in that one Haley trailed by about 50 or 60 points,” pollster Steve Mitchell said.
Mitchell said Haley’s visits in Michigan may be part of a larger strategy to show the country she’s not dropping out ahead of Super Tuesday.
“She shows that she’s still in the race by coming to Michigan immediately after the South Carolina primary,” said Mitchell.
Haley will speak at a rally in Troy Sunday evening before heading to Grand Rapids for a rally Monday afternoon.
