DEARBORN, Mich. – An off-duty Washington, D.C., police officer visiting Michigan was shot early Monday morning in Dearborn.
Police said the 32-year-old off-duty officer was with another man, a 34-year-old Detroit resident, in a white SUV outside The Pantheion Club on Michigan Avenue around 3 a.m. when the between four and eight shots were fired at their SUV.
Police said the off-duty officer suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his side. The other man suffered a graze wound to his torso.
The officer and another man in the SUV drove to the 9th Precinct in Detroit for help.
The Washington, D.C., Police Department confirmed it was one of their officer's who was involved in the shooting, but did not release any more details about his history with the department.
Police said the shots were fired from a dark colored sedan, possibly a Lincoln MKZ. Two men were inside, but police didn't release detailed descriptions of them.
