Woman killed, 2 others hurt after head-on crash in Sterling Heights

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – A 50-year-old woman was killed early Friday morning after a head-on crash in Sterling Heights, police said. 

The woman, whose name has not yet been released, was in a Kia Rio going westbound on 17 Mile Road near Lancelot Drive at about 12:30 a .m. when an eastbound Ford Explorer crossed the center line and collided into the Rio, police said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. A 35-year-old passenger in her car was taken to the hospital. 

Police said the Explorer's driver, an 18-year-old, was also taken to the hospital. 

Police said it wasn't immediately known if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
