ROYAL OAK, Mich. – In recent weeks, a park in Royal Oak that's popular with families has also become a place for people to meet up and have sex.
Cummingston Park, located on Torquay Avenue, has a playground and trails. Lately, people have been lurking in the wooded area of the park to have sex.
The park isn’t just used as a hook-up spot when it’s closed between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m., either. Police arrested two people for having sex at 2 p.m.
That's a time when moms often bring their kids to the park, Jim Kosnik said.
Kosnik lives across the street from the park. For three decades, he’s watched kids enjoy it. Now, he’s going to be keeping watch for the illegal activity he’s glad he hasn’t witnessed.
“I call it shabby,” he said.
Police are stepping up their presence at the park.
