TROY, Mich. – Second-term Republican Rep. Dave Trott of Michigan won't run for re-election.
Trott represents Michigan's 11th congressional district.

Trott was first elected in 2014 and re-elected in 2016.

In March, Trott met with residents in Novi to answer questions about the repeal of the Affordable Care Act and a variety of other topics concerning taxpayers.
During the heated session Trott was met with an outcry of angry residents who made it clear that they did not agree with the repeal and demanded answers about border control and other security issues.

Republican Rep. Paul Mitchell, who represents Michigan's 10th congressional district, released this statement on Trott's decision not to run for re-election:
"Representative Dave Trott is a friend and has been a dedicated advocate for Michigan’s 11th District. I appreciate Dave’s willingness to serve and his strong conservative voice here in Washington. I wish him and his family all the best as he returns to the private sector."
National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Steve Stivers released the following statement:
"Dave Trott has been a pivotal member of Congress, and a bold and tireless representative for his district. His focus on job creation has paid off, and Michiganders in the 11th District are better off today thanks to his leadership. I wish him luck in all of his future endeavors. The NRCC is looking forward to keeping his seat red in 2018. We will not let his hard work go to waste, and are confident this seat will remain under Republican control."
Michigan Democrats on Trott: People of Michigan want change
Michigan Democratic Party Chair Brandon Dillon issued this statement regarding Trott's announcement:
