FRASER, Mich. – Sources say sewage is being pumped into the Clinton River after a sinkhole on 15 Mile Road opened up Saturday in Fraser.
Fraser and Macomb County officials met with residents Monday during an emergency Fraser City Council meeting at City Hall.

City engineer Scott Lockwood said at the meeting that a bypass pump system was built to protect homes from sewage backups which would pump sewage into the Clinton River only if homes were in danger.
A total of 22 homes were evacuated near 15 Mile Road and Eberlien.
Officials said the 50-foot-by-50-foot sinkhole, which started 45 feet below the surface, will keep 15 Mile Road between Hayes and Utica roads closed for “several months.”
