DETROIT – As Little Caesars Arena prepares to open, traffic and parking in Downtown Detroit may cause issues for those trying to get to the arena.

Traffic downtown is already affected by construction on Michigan Avenue, work on the John C. Lodge Freeway and the widening of the Grand River Avenue exit ramp.

Additionally, only three new parking garages have been finished so far.

With the new arena seating just over 20,000 and new parking garages only having 2,600 spaces, parking is going to be limited, while traffic is expected to back up.

However, an Olympia Development spokesman said the new parking spots are in addition to 7,000 existing parking spots near the arena.

Those attending the Kid Rock concert at the arena will need to arrive early and be patient about parking.
