DETROIT – Detroit police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who took a woman's purse from her car while she pumped gas at a gas station.

The 32-year-old woman was at the Mobil gas station in the 18100 block of West McNichols. When she started pumping gas on the driver's side of her car, video shows a white Chrysler with temporary plates and a hub cap on the front passenger side wheel pull up to the passenger side of her car.

Video shows the Chrysler stopping near the front right side of her car and then a man slowly opening the driver's door of the Chrysler. He steps out and opens the front passenger's door of the woman's car. Video shows him leaning into the car before getting back into the Chrysler and leaving.

The woman said after she entered her payment information, she turned around and noticed her passenger door open, and her purse and tote bag were missing.
