Walled Lake marijuana safety compliance facility settles with state after license suspended

Iron Laboratories to pay $100,000 as part of settlement

DETROIT – Iron Laboratories, LLC, a Walled Lake marijuana safety compliance facility that had its license summarily suspended in August, has settled with the Marijuana Regulatory Agency, according to Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel.

The MRA took emergency action in August and issued a formal complaint and suspension of the facilities license for alleged violations related to the company's testing and reported results for pesticides, yeasts, molds and THC content.

Products were recalled in August after testing positive for chemical residue of bifenazate, cadmium, arsenic and chromium. The settlement requires the company to pay a $100,000 fine, update its procedures and provide data and reports to the MRA for a year.

"While we are pleased that the licensee worked quickly to resolve these issues, it is clear that these actions never should have happened in the first place," said MRA Executive Director Andrew Brisbo. "It is imperative that our safety compliance facilities – and all of our licensees – adhere strictly to the law and the administrative rules. The diligence with which our enforcement team investigated and brought these issues to light demonstrates the commitment that the MRA has in protecting marijuana patients here in Michigan."
