Pipe needed to repair water main break arrives in Oakland County

Water to be tested for 48 hours after repair

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – The pipe needed to fix a water main break in Oakland County that has affected 12 communities arrived Wednesday morning.

Once the repair is made, the water must be tested for 48 hours, so Friday is the earliest that water could be safely used without being boiled.

The break happened at about 5:30 p.m. in West Bloomfield.

The Great Lakes Water Authority issued the advisory for:

  • Bloomfield Township
  • Commerce Township
  • Farmington Hills (North of I-696)
  • Keego Harbor
  • Novi
  • Novi Township
  • Oakland Township (specifically the subdivisions: The Hills of Oakland and Kings Pointe)
  • Orchard Lake Village
  • Rochester Hills (north of Hamlin and west of Livernois)
  • Walled Lake
  • West Bloomfield Township
  • Wixom
